Weordan is a world of apothos.
The chemistry of glowing yellow blood sustains life and drives technology.
Apothos is a personal technology practiced by apothynom, talented men and women who train their whole lives to build their metabolic capacity and hone their skill at directing that energy in novel ways.
They construct apothic machines called emetanisms, mostly as tools to enhance their personal apothic capacity, but also to perform simple tasks in place of apothic effort.

The Radiant Agnosian Empire is a collective of states unified by their proximity and their devotion to Agnos, the Giver of Light.
Law and life are ruled by ecclesiastic fiat. Apothos is highly regulated, limited to Ecclesians and Knights of the Realm upon whom an archaic practice is enforced.
Compliance with the law of Agnos is ensured by the Chancery of the Path and Agnos' will is carried out by Ordo Agnos.

The Malatien Grasslands are the ruined training grounds of the Weordan military.
The savannas are dominated by the felids, cats transformed by Imperial apothynomi to be controlled and commanded to kill efficiently. The region is now wild and the felids live as disorganized, warring tribes.

The Rindtearal Badlands are a wasteland rich in fuel sources and home to the Oinos collective.
The Oinos routinely alter themselves and animals with otherwise forgotten technology of the Empire. They live in an apothos-communication-driven society where status trumps economics.
-
The Bayard Plains are an artifact of the long dead Weordan Empire.
Most of its inhabitants are incapable of apothos. The large human subspecies are known as bayards, and the highly intelligent horses as bays. Utilizing specialized but rudimentary technology, the two species work together to make the agricultural engine of Weordan highly productive.
The border security with the Malatien Grasslands is maintained by the Oinos of the Rindtearal Badlands.

The Goeterian Polities are a group of technically advanced city states that dominate Intera, the inland sea they surround.
In the Goeterian Polities, those adept in apothos, the apothynomi, rule over those with little talent or training.

The capitol of the Weordan Empire is in ruins.
Explorers come from across the continent to plunder the riches of the ruined capitol. By some, Weordan is said to have been destroyed by depraved use of apothos. Others say it was a natural disaster or the wrath of Agnos.
The destruction of the capitol is almost universally agreed to be the cause of a dark age and the loss of much apothic knowledge.

Apothic Man I:
In Kenos, the city of enlightenment and innovation, a body with bizarre wounds is fished from the bay.
On the case are a middling apothynom, Investigator Paulos Gaent, and a religious objector to apothynom rule, Clerk Teria Bellaphaerenous.
At cross purposes, a private investigator, Laros Nero, is hired by an anonymous client to discover the identity of the murderer for reasons
other than justice.
It will take more than keen investigative abilities to stop the ongoing series of crimes in Kenos. It will require the unearthing of dark
apothic knowledge that has been buried for an age.

The bustling city of Kenos leads the charge in innovation as the world emerges from a catastrophic dark age.
Formerly a weak sister of Denaphaos across the Interan Strait, Kenos is the newest, and possibly the most powerful, member of the Interan League.
-
Denaphaos, across the narrow Interan Strait from Kenos remains steeped in the old ways and watches as its power fades and Kenos rises.
-
The city of Zyrie is the site of the signing of the political, military and trade pact organized by the four members of the Interan League, of which Zyrie was one.
More formally, the signatory states are known as the Goeterian Polities.
-
Sylapord was snubbed from the Interan League in favor of Denaphaos-aligned Trysorta.
It is home to a very talented young apothic swordsman. Neltiar Silva has diplomatic credentials originating from this city.
-
The Zimatran Mountains are a natural barrier that insulates the Goeterian Polities from danger and distances them from their allies in the Bayard Plains.
-
Intera is an inland sea that is controlled by the ships of the Interan League.
-
Trysorta was brought into the Interan league by Denaphaos to solidify its position over upstarts Kenos and Zyrie.
With the ascension of Kenos, politics in Trysorta have tilted in favor of the rising star.

Apothic Man III:
A war effort is stirring in the Malatien Grasslands.
The Bayards, Bays, and Humans exiled there for violent crimes are being organized by a strong leader. They have powerful apothos,
enough to overcome the few Oinos stationed at every border fort. If their intent is not to invade the Bayard Plains, what is their purpose?

The Malatien Grasslands are home to violent criminals, beasts designed to kill, and worse.
Tribes of violent criminals from the Bayard Plains eek out an existence in the killing fields of the Felids, apothically engineered, facultatively
bipedal killing machines left over from the Weordan Empire.
-
Primarily, two species inhabit the Bayard Plains and neither can command apothos. They were designed that way.
One are the Bayards: humanoids, larger, stronger, and possibly, smarter than Humans. The other are Bays, horses with enhanced intelligence.
The two species work together to industrially extract the maximum from the breadbasket they inhabit. Their emetanic technology is rudimentary. Devices are much larger than those found elsewhere, but they are more robust as well. With this minimal technology and brute strength, they operate independently incorporated farms which participate as entities in a representative democracy.
